LCW Night of Horrors 2008 Pay-Per-View Results 10.19.08
From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Night of Horrors 2008 as "Re-Education (Through Labor)" by Rise Against, the official theme song for LCW Night of Horrors 2008, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone and Zbyszko reviewed the complete card including the double main event featuring The Rock facing Ric Flair and LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA defending the title against Dr. Death Steve Williams.
Wildfire Tommy Rich defeated Universal Heartthrob Austin Idol in 5:11 by pinfall after the Wildfire Driver. Before the match, footage was shown from LCW Showdown two weeks ago when Rich and a stylist gave Idol an impromptu makeover covering Idol’s face in makeup and messing up his hair with gel.
In the back, LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA was shown arriving at the arena.
Raging Bull Manny Fernandez defeated Superstar Billy Graham in 6:31 by pinfall with a rollup with his feet on the ropes in a match to determine the number one contender for the LCW International Championship. After the match, from the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone questioned Fernandez’s use the ropes for leverage in the pinfall, but Larry Zbyszko said that a real champion does whatever it takes to win.
In the back, Dr. Death Steve Williams and Cowboy Bill Watts were shown arriving in the arena parking lot. Bill Mercer approached them and Watts said, “Dr. Death has gone through everyone in Legends Championship Wrestling and there’s only one man left and that man is Magnum TA and tonight Dr. Death is going through Magnum TA and going home with the LCW Universal Championship.”
In the back, LCW Television Champion The Genius Lanny Poffo and Macho Man Randy Savage were shown attacking Ron Garvin. They re-injured Garvin’s broken hand and Savage threw Garvin head first into a steel door. Poffo then kicked Garvin in the head before security officials arrived and pulled Poffo and Savage away.
LCW United States Tag Team Champions The Bolsheviks (with General Skandor Akbar and Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie) defeated The Fantastics in 6:01 by countout when Abdullah the Butcher interfered and joined the Bolsheviks in attacking both Rogers and Fulton outside the ring as Akbar and Al-Kassie distracted the referee. When the referee returned his attention to the action outside the ring, the Bolsheviks were in the ring and the referee started counting out the Fantastics outside the ring. After the match, the Fantastics tried to grab Akbar and Al-Kassie, but Akbar slipped away with the Bolsehviks and they left up the entrance ramp. Al-Kassie ran around the ring to get away from the Fantastics and slid under the ring. After giving up their search for Al-Kassie under the ring, the Fantastics left ringside.
In the back, Ron Garvin, bleeding and almost unconscious after being attacked by Macho Man Randy Savage and LCW Television Champion The Genius Lanny Poffo, was being attended to by a medical official and was trying to get up off the examining table. LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel approached the medic and Garvin and Bockwinkel asked the Garvin if he was fit to compete and the medic said he wasn’t. Garvin said he didn’t want to hear that and he tried to get off the examining table. Bockwinkel helped the medics hold Garvin down and Bockwinkel said if Garvin wasn’t cleared to wrestle he wasn’t going to wrestle tonight. Bockwinkel walked out and when he turned the corner he ran into Savage and Poffo who were laughing. Bockwinkel told them to stifle their laughter because Poffo would still be defending his title tonight and Bockwinkel was going to find his opponent now.
Ken Patera defeated LCW United States Champion Bob Backlund in 6:49 by pinfall after Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie, who was hiding under the ring, threw a fireball in Backlund’s face. After the match, Al-Kassie presented the title to Patera and the two men left ringside together.
In the back, Bill Mercer interviewed The Rock said he couldn’t deny that the Nature Boy Ric Flair was the man. Rock said he didn’t need to prove he was the man, but tonight he was going to beat the man because there was one thing that he needed more than proving that he was the man and that was the LCW Universal Championship. Rock said Flair could focus on being the man all he wanted to because that would be what would lead to Rock kicking his candy ass.
From the ring, ring announcer Gary Michael Capetta came out and introduced LCW Television Champion The Genius Lanny Poffo who came out with Macho Man Randy Savage. LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel introduced his opponent…Brutus Beefcake!
Brutus Beefcake (substitute for Ron Garvin) defeated LCW Television Champion The Genius Lanny Poffo Garvin (with Macho Man Randy Savage) in 7:01 by pinfall to win the LCW Television Championship after Savage accidentally hit Poffo with a flying double axehandle. During the match, Beefcake, who had Poffo in the sleeper, turned around, saw Savage leaping from the top rope, released Poffo and Savage accidentally hit his brother with the flying double axehandle. Beefcake hit Savage with a high knee lift, sending Savage tumbling out of the ring before covering Poffo for the pinfall and the win.
In the back, the new LCW United States Champion Ken Patera celebrated with the members of the Disciples of Allah: General Skandor Akbar, Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie, The Iron Sheik, Abdullah the Butcher, and LCW United States Tag Team Champions The Bolsheviks.
In the back, Bill Mercer interviewed Mr. Fuji who said he wasn’t taking sides in the match between the Great Kabuki and Don Muraco tonight and said he wished both men luck and the man who won would continue to receive his managerial services. Fuji said the best man would win and he would make sure the best man won.
The Great Kabuki defeated Don Muraco in 4:07 by pinfall after the Powers of Pain interfered and attacked Muraco. During the match, Mr. Fuji stood in a neutral corner. Toward the end of the match, the Powers of Pain came down to ringside and watched the match for a moment. While Muraco scooped up Kabuki for the belly-to-belly piledriver, Fuji jumped on the ring apron and the Powers of Pain climbed into the ring and attacked Muraco. Kabuki covered Muraco for the pinfall and the win and then left ringside with Fuji and the Powers of Pain.
In the back, the new LCW Television Champion Brutus Beefcake met with Ron Garvin and Garvin congratulated Beefcake. Beefcake told Garvin that if he wanted a shot at the title, he’d get first priority and Garvin said his first priority is The Genius Lanny Poffo and Macho Man Randy Savage. Beefcake said he’d have Garvin’s back if Garvin needed his help. Garvin thanked Beefcake and said he wouldn’t need Beefcake’s help, but he’d take it. The two men shook hands and Garvin walked away.
The Destruction Crew defeated Demolition in 7:15 by pinfall when Mike Enos pinned Ax after Wayne Bloom hit Ax in the back of the head with a sledgehammer. After the match, Smash tried to help Ax to his feet, but a visibly upset Ax, holding the back of his head, pushed Smash away and walked out of the ring without Smash, who followed behind Ax.
After a video package featuring the long and storied history between LCW International Champion Big Van Vader and his former manager Harley Race played on the LegendsTron, Race came out and introduced Vader’s opponent that he selected for Vader…One Man Gang! As Race and Gang made their way to the ring, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko talked about Gang’s recent win streak and wondered if his win streak would continue.
LCW International Champion Big Van Vader defeated One Man Gang (with Harley Race) in 9:56 by pinfall after the Vadersault. After the match, Harley Race blasted Vader with a savage chair shot, knocking Vader out. Race left ringside and walked up the entrance ramp and when he reached the entrance stage, he turned around and said, “Vader, in one month, at LCW Redemption Day, I’m going to take care of business myself. I’m going to stop skirting around the issue, I’m going to stop beating around the bush, I’m going to train harder than I have in years, I’m going to get back into the shape I used to be, the shape I was when I was a champion, the shape I was before I tied by ship to your anchor and you started bringing me down. I’m going to train to become the champion that I used to be, the champion you will never be, and in one month I’m taking my fight to you myself and taking care of business myself. In one month, LCW Redemption Day will be in my hometown of Kansas City, Missouri, where I won my first of seven NWA World Heavyweight Championships in 1973 and where I beat the Nature Boy Ric Flair for my seventh and final NWA World Heavyweight Championship in 1983. In one month, in the Kemper Arena, I’m going to become the LCW International Championship by kicking your ass.” Race threw down the microphone as a bleeding Vader slowly used the ropes to pull himself up to his feet.
In the back, Bill Mercer interviewed Ric Flair, with valets Baby Doll and Dawn Marie, about his upcoming match with The Rock. Flair said tonight he was going to prove he was the man because there was no way the Rock was going to beat the man because he’d never be the man because Flair was always going to be the man.
LCW World Tag Team Champions The Midnight Express defeated the Hart Foundation when Bobby Eaton pinned Jim Neidhart after the Alabama Jam. Towards the end of the match, member of the original Midnight Express, Randy Rose, who was sitting in the front row, jumped over the steel barricade and joined Dennis Condrey in attacking Bret Hart outside the ring. Strike Force came out and tried to help Bret Hart, but it was too late as Bobby Eaton had already climbed to the top rope to hit Neidhart with the Alabama Jam.
In the back, Ric Flair was shown with Baby Doll, Dawn Marie, and Tully Blanchard, all making their way through the arena corridor on their way to the ring. LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel approached them and told Baby Doll and Dawn Marie that they could accompany Flair to ringside, but told Blachard that he’d have to stay in the back. Blanchard stayed behind with Bockwinkel as Flair left with Baby Doll and Dawn Marie.
Ric Flair (with Dawn Marie and Baby Doll) defeated The Rock in 15:24 by pinfall after Tully Blanchard interfered and hit Rock with the slingshot suplex while Baby Doll distracted referee Tommy Young. During the match, Rock put Flair in the Sharpshooter. Dawn Marie tried to interfere, but Rock released the Sharpshooter and hit her with the Rock Bottom. Baby Doll jumped up on the ring apron and distracted referee Tommy Young while Flair, tired from the match, hit Rock with a low blow out of desperation. With both men down and Baby Doll distracting referee Tommy Young, Tully Blanchard ran out and hit Rock with the slingshot supple and then draped Flair’s arm over Rock for the pinfall and the win.
In the back, the Hart Foundation confronted LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel and demanded a rematch with the LCW World Tag Team The Midnight Express next week on LCW Showdown. Bockwinkel said he understood their frustration and granted them the rematch.
The Long Riders (with James J. Dillon) defeated The Bushwhackers in 5:25 by pinfall when Bass pinned Luke Williams after the Texas Gourdbuster.
In the back, Bill Mercer was interviewing Kevin Von Erich about his upcoming bunkhouse brawl match with LCW Heritage Champion Stan Hansen when Hansen appeared out of nowhere and attacked Von Erich. The two men brawled through the back and to the ring to start the match. During the brawl, Hansen knocked out LCW Showdown Producer Derrick LeRoux who got too close to the action. From the broadcast booth, Schiavone noted that it was LeRoux’s birthday.
Kevin Von Erich defeated LCW Heritage Champion Stan Hansen (with Lady Amazon) in 7:07 by knockout to win the LCW Heritage Championship in a bunkhouse brawl by submission after spraying Lady Amazon in the face with a fire extinguisher and then hitting Hansen in the head with the end of the fire extinguished, knocking him out and then applying the claw. As a result of pre-match stipulations, Lady Amazon had to leave Legends Championship Wrestling. After the match, security officials removed Lady Amazon from ringside and dragged her kicking and screaming up the entrance ramp.
In the back, Bill Mercer interviewed LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA who said tonight was another in a long line of tough challengers who had been put before him since winning the LCW Universal Championship. Magnum said Dr. Death Steve Williams had been one of the most dominant monsters in Legends Championship Wrestling since its inception, but that his reign of domination would come to an abrupt end tonight.
From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko talked about the LCW Redemption Day 2008 pay-per-view live from Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri on Sunday, November 30, 2008. Schiavone also announced that on Saturday, November 1, 2008, Legends Championship Wrestling would present the sixth Showdown at the Chase television special live from the Khorassan Ballroom in the Chase-Park Plaza Hotel in St. Louis, MO, the home of the legendary and historic Wrestling at the Chase television program.
On the LegendsTron, a special video package highlighting LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA and Dr. Death Steve Willliams’ time in Legends Championship Wrestling thus far and what led them both to tonight’s main event played as Rise Against performed “Re-Education (Through Labor)” on the entrance stage.
LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA defeated Dr. Death Steve Williams (with Cowboy Bill Watts) in 21:02 by pinfall after the belly-to-belly suplex. During the match, Watts interfered in the match and attacked Magnum and Williams was disqualified. An angry Williams got in Watts’ face and yelled at him for interfering. LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel came out and said, “I hate to reverse any decision made by an official in Legends Championship Wrestling, but Tommy Young, I’m sorry, we’re going to have to restart this one. But we’re going to restart this one under one condition: Cowboy Bill Watts has to leave ringside immediately.” Watts threw a fit and said it wasn’t going to happen and tried to get Williams to leave with him, but Williams looked at Watts and pointed toward the entrance ramp sending Watts away. The match continued. After the match, Nikita Koloff came out to congratulate his friend, Magnum TA, as Williams left the ring and grabbed the title from the timekeeper. Williams returned to the ring handed the title to Magnum TA in a show of respect. Williams then turned around and launched himself toward Koloff, laying him out with the spear. Williams exited the ring as Magnum checked on Koloff and yelled at Williams as he left up the entrance ramp. Watts came out and joined Williams on the entrance stage as Magnum helped Koloff to his feet. Koloff stared at Williams and Williams exchanged the stare as the show went off the air.
